Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) causes pain and inflammation on the outer part of the elbow, while golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis) results in pain and inflammation on the inner part of the elbow. Both conditions result from overuse and strain of the forearm muscles and tendons, which leads to microtears and inflammation.
What causes Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow?
Commonly associated with tennis players, tennis elbow can occur with frequent use of the forearm muscles. While many recreational and professional golfers suffer from golfer’s elbow, patients engaging in activities that involve repetitive wrist flexion or gripping may also receive that diagnosis due to:
- Overuse
- Muscle strain
- Repetitive stress
